ABOUT US

Click here to find out about us, our work and our commitment!

LIBROTONDO social coop is a small and innovative working group composed of trainers and facilitators that manage educational projects for children and families, training courses for educational practitioners and participatory processes with citizens and groups. Since 2012 we have been participating in European projects, in strategic partnerships. As part of the Erasmus+ programme, we have carried out several mobility projects for youth workers, and we have a rich catalogue of training proposals for European teachers.

We work in Genoa, Italy, where we manage, within La Casa nel Parco ETS and in collaboration with the Municipality of Genoa, a public space inside a former military barracks, in a multi-ethnic neighborhood with social and cultural difficulties. The neighbourhood house is called Casa Gavoglio and was born from the requalification of an abandoned space. Casa Gavoglio is managed by La Casa nel Parco ETS, a body composed of numerous associations. Here we carry out many cultural and social activities for all ages. It is an intercultural space dedicated to the active participation of citizens. This is also the venue of all our Erasmus training courses.

You can check the activities of the neighborhood house on La Casa nel Parco ETS website.

Some projects we carry out at the neighborhood house:

Intercultural library for children and teenagers

Inside the neighborhood house, one of the main projects is the library dedicated to children aged 0 to 18, with many books also in languages other than Italian, and a section dedicated to wordless books, a valuable tool for intercultural education. The spaces have been restructured with public and private funds and many people have participated to carry out this project. The library is used by the school and by the families of the neighborhood and we organize reading-aloud workshops and training courses for teachers and educators.

The urban park

In the area of the former barracks, where the neighborhood house is located, an urban park was inaugurated in December 2022, created by the Municipality of Genoa with an innovative project.

In recent years (from 2019 to 2021) we have carried out an educational project of environmental education and scientific dissemination dedicated to the park, Il Parco Dentro (The Park Within), with activities for children and school adolescents. Thanks to this project we have purchased 30 children’s books dedicated to nature and environmental protection.

Activities with students at school
(conflicts, life skills, classroom management)

At the neighborhood house we carry out projects dedicated to local schools, which have various critical issues such as high number of students with disabilities and migrant backgrounds; low income of families; lack of cultural and social services; difficulties in managing classes.

To support teachers we carry out workshops with the classes to teach children and young people to manage conflicts independently and responsibly and improve relationships with classmates.
